After/Glow

Drax Productions partnered with Helio Arts to produce a cinematic album adaptation of Robert Schumann’s song cycle Dichterliebe (A Poet’s Love) titled “After/Glow”, starring John Holiday, with new poetry by Marc Bamuthi Joseph, directed by award-winning filmmaker Ryan McKinny.

Synopsis

The spark of new love, the smoldering of desire, the haze of loss. Life and death are but bodies intertwined in After/Glow. Reimagining a classic European work through contemporary voices, After/Glow boldly embarks upon a cinematic journey through Schumann’s iconic sixteen-song cycle Dichterliebe (A Poet’s Love). Featuring the virtuosic performance of countertenor and recent finalist on NBC’s The Voice John Holiday as singer and pianist, and the original work of acclaimed poet Marc Bamuthi Joseph, After Glow will leave you basking in the raw power of intimate human connection.

We were very impressed by Ryan McKinny’s artistic vision and entrepreneurial determination to create cinematic experiences that combine multiple art forms and showcase talented artists of various disciplines in unexpected and genre-bending combinations.
